The Trafalgar School at Downton
Welcome - we are a secondary school for students aged between 11 and 16. Students join us from a geographically diverse rural designated area. The school has a population of 545 girls and boys in the Academic Year 2013-2014.
The School is a 4 form entry school with each form being in a different House (Breamore, Clarendon, Longford or Radnor).
Approximately 114 students are in each year group. We attract students from our cluster primary schools - Alderbury, Longford (at Odstock and Britford), Downton, Morgans Vale & Woodfalls, New Forest School (at Landford and Nomansland), Coombe Bissett and Whiteparish.
Every year, several students also join us from other local schools, particularly from Harnham Junior School. The majority of our students travel into our school using the services provided by the Wilts & Dorset bus company.
Downton is a large ancient Wiltshire village with a population of approximately 3,000 situated around 6 miles south of Salisbury. It straddles the River Avon just outside the New Forest National Park and is surrounded by water meadows and chalk downland. The parish includes the hamlets of Charlton All Saints and Standlynch.
